Another Lantana Day

Gave you the scoop on Lantanas in the past--will not bore you w/more Ma stories. They are really flourishing in the heat---both foliage and blooms. Always buy these from a KS grower. Have them in several colors. Always loved crayons--this is about the closest I can get---lots of colors to see--even in each plant.

Got a lot done yesterday and planning on moving rocks this AM. Another 90+ degree day in store so will begin when I return from Mass. The "boys" will help by coaching me on (actually barking incessantly) throughout the process and I will move rocks until physically tired or worn out from all the barking.

Stay healthy, be safe, and stay in touch.
Love, Ma

More flowers

More Crepe Myrtle and Snapdragon pics. Will not go on and on about the beauty of the flowers.

It is already in the 90's. Went to Mass this AM, worked at the rectory for awhile, came home, mowed, and went to the lumber yard with one of the carpenters to return some unused siding planks. Plan to begin moving rocks when it gets a bit cooler.

Am pleased with the siding and will have the house painted sometime in Sept. Plan to use the same paint colors unless Kat twists my arm when she visits the end of this month. Who knows--it could all change--she has some great ideas---will not buy paint and will pick her brain while she is here. She has no clue it will be a working trip.

As always, stay healthy, be safe, and keep in touch.

Rain, flowers, and dogs

Busy day yesterday, Mass, rectory volunteering, "boys" to groomer, meeting to make arrangements for late August event, filled up/washed car (in car wash), made lots of calls, worked in the flowers, had a bite to eat w/some friends, and all before the wonderful rain started.

Nasturtium (above) via MN---Kat sent these seeds to me. The plants got rather "leggy", trimmed them back and they are really going to town. The pics do not do them justice. The creamy color is really beautiful and the foliage has recovered nicely.

White Crepe Myrtle in the back yard. Grooming it to be tree-like rather than a shrub. It is coming a long very nice and has been beautiful and full of blooms this summer. I am surprised each summer by the transformation in the plants. They have not held back this year---think they know I need their beauty in my life.

Off to Mass, then to school to finish the enrollment process. Wish all of you good health, be safe, and keep in touch.

Love,
Mom

Snapdragons to Lancelot

Everything is still blooming. Find my self deadheading all the time to keep the blooming and foliage in sync. Every year the flower garden is different. I would certainly refer to it as a heritage garden this year---lots of old time flowers. S/W Kat this weekend and found out the coleus I have been featuring all summer is Lancelot not Camelot--thought I would add a recent pic of the newly named plant as well as some yellow snapdragons.

The siding is completed and painting should begin in September. Plan to start moving more rocks and begin extending the shade garden away from the house. Have a lot of projects going and love it.

Stay healthy, be safe, and stay in touch.

Remembering Ray's Birthday

Always seem to draw from lyrics but this says it better than anything for me. Happy (08/09/1937) Birthday Pop!

Life is a book that we study. Some of its leaves bring a sigh. There it was written, my buddy, that we must part, you and I.
Times are long since you went away. I think about you all through the day, my buddy, my buddy, nobody quite so true.
Miss your voice, the touch of your hand. Just long to know that you understand, my buddy, my buddy, your buddy misses you. (A Walter Donaldson & Gus Kahn song w/my usual editing)

Really miss this dear gentle soul and loved the time spent with him. Have such fond memories and am grateful for having him in my life. Know you are too.

Please stay healthy, be safe, and keep in touch.
