Going to go pick up potting/top soil and play in the garden/yard. Lots of pots to get ready, some low areas to fill---just got to get w/it.

Quiet Day

Some people come into our lives and quickly go... Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.

Mass yesterday afternoon. Quiet day planned today---read, putz indoors (too windy and brisk outside), listen to some music, mess w/the "boys."

Mass for family on Tuesday, 8:00am @ St. Patrick.

Digging in the dirt

What a fun afternoon. Picked up some plants on sale (2 kinds of Ivy and 2 kinds other nice indoor plants), found some potting soil and dug in. Nothing like digging in the dirt. Nice.

Mass this AM, ran an errand, then home to dig, plant, blow nose/cough/wheeze, drink lots of tea/ water and putz...

Working on the PT exercises and should be in fine form by Spring.

Keeping Ma busy

Mass this AM, running errands, catching up on housework (sweeping, dusting, laundry), etc. Expecting  the sprinkler company to come this PM to winterize the sprinkler system.

Signed up for a "Cappuccino and Catholicism" meeting from 9 to Noon  tomorrow at SLC. Sounds interesting in fact both sound appealing to me. Will go to Mass at 8:00am out East then head back to the SLC for the meeting.  Also, plan to volunteer on the 18th to set up for a Priests banquet.  (Sm. section pic. of the SLC dining room)

Another Festive Decorating Season

Have spent another year out doing myself w/seasonal decorating. Wanted to share a pic of this years project. Know you are all envious of the creativity---easy as flicking a match to light the candles.

Really enjoyed yesterday. The volunteer day retreat at SLC was wonderful. They really made it special for all of the volunteers. (I volunteer to transport retreat attendees to and from airport and set up for banquets--and on call for whatever---call it flying by the seat of my pants volunteering.) Would recommend volunteering as a stewardship for the retirees.

All family members have successfully had their surgeries. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers for thanksgiving and uneventful recoveries. Also, throw in some continued good health, safety, and keeping in touch w/our family members. Lots going on.

Limbering Up and Putzing

Limbering up and getting ready for a great week.

Temperature 37 degrees, no wind, sky starting to lighten up----just looks like the start of a good day/week. Planning on daily Mass, some volunteering at the rectory/school, Chiro appt, tree removal, SLC class, PT later in the week, lots of yardwork, w/some reading/fireplace time thrown in. Then again, other than the scheduled stuff may just wing it and fly by the seat of my pants doing what I do so well ---PUTZING!

OTD and DTR

Sample of ornamental grass w/Coleus in the background. The Coleus is growing out of one of the arbor pots. Adding the ornamental grass has been fun--they move so well in the breeze, are heat/drought tolerant and the plumes are so different on each plant. Have them scattered all over the flower garden path area.

Thinking Thanksgiving is not too far off though the weather is not aware of it. Thinking recently about last Thanksgiving and remember the family members who traveled to be here but cannot remember anything about the meal----Guess I was on automatic most of last year--in fact I know I was---Loved having family here. Will someone please let me know what we ate and was it good?

More busy bee stuff

Off to Mass, volunteer at school to help finish a fund raising project, then home to work in the basement/yard/back field..Lots of rain/hail/thunder/lightning storms in the area last night. Nice and cool this AM. Might even put all cushions back on outdoor deck furniture and squeeze in some reading this afternoon. Where do the days go???

Bridge class was fun---lots of info---too much talking---not enough playing and what do I expect?---It was only the first class. They say bridge is a polite card game---will have to polish up on my polite techniques---was wondering if putting a sock in the mouth of some of the players at other tables would be polite---think polite, think polite---think polite. See, I am working on being polite.

Teeth polished and shined

Enough teeth cleaning done to last another 6 months. My teeth are so shiny. I have to watch the grinning. Don't want to blind anyone with the glare from the enamel.

Mass this AM, volunteered at rectory, stopped by the car wash, and now working inside and outside----too hot to be out too long. Pulling hoses around to keep the flowers from burning up on the 100+ day.

Heard from the TX grandparents yesterday---fun is being had by all.

Nice

Busy day yesterday! Mass in AM, ran errands, cleaned out rain gutters, took flower pics (before the afternoon rain shower), did some reading, nice afternoon nap w/"boys", phone call visits w/family, family stopped by to visit...thus real Nice day.

Today: Supposed to be hot (85 degrees/muggy), Mass this AM, laundry, sweep, carpenter here all day, help haul lumber to work area, and just busy myself like a bee----speaking of bees took some pics of them also---(Requires a DC to see the bee). The bees are thick on the perennial geraniums.

Mowing and Moaning

Home from Mass. Going to venture into the garage and give it another go w/the lawn mower. Have looked into options if it does not start---Keith has agreed to come over and help me throw it through one of the windows, now have an empty trash can and it just may fit inside after I sledge it around several times, or possible consider getting it fixed since it is only 2+ years old. Should prove to be an interesting day. Possibly will be an addendum.

Daisies and Dog

Thinking it may be a sunny day. Things are dry, 53 degrees, sky clear, no breeze---Nice! Plan to go to Mass, pick up the house and listen to the wonderful steady sound of saws, drill motors, and carpentry tools running throughout the day, and possibly mow if dry enough later today. Went to Mass yesterday, ran errands, read, took a nice nap, and trimmed some flowers/plants that were laying over due to all of the recent rain.

Dogs, Birds, Flowers, and Clouds

Cloudy, cool most of yesterday. Went to Mass, volunteered at the rectory, took "boys" to groomer, read, watched TV...Really a non productive day. "Boys" look great but were "draumatized" w/the trip---crying, shaking, etc. They slept most of the afternoon/evening.

The River Birch has "fruit/pods" on it and the orioles were flying all over the back yard yesterday. Think they were munching on the pods. So much bird chatter and yellow in the back yard. Tried to get a picture but too much barking and the birds flew away.

Foggy, cool (49 degrees) this AM. Plan to go to Mass, volunteer at the rectory, do some laundry, run some errands and get some yard work done after the fog burns off.

Things without rain

Shhhhhh---don't tell anybody but it is not raining today--yet. Of course it is still a little dark outside. Worked out in the yard (in the drizzling rain) yesterday afternoon/evening--trimming shrubs, thinning out some succulents, weeding...Another certifiable event in my life. Can you have cabin fever in the Spring/Summer? Planning on finishing my path on the East side of the house. Will go to Augusta and pick up more rocks to line the pathway. (Pic: this was the ivy I had all winter on my kitchen window sill--It is loving its new home out of doors.)

Off to Mass this AM, then to breakfast at the school for an 8th grade fund raiser. Think they are having biscuits, gravy, sausage pattie, and hash browns. This is beyond a doubt the best group of kids---will sacrifice and keep the Tums handy to support them. Will spend the rest of the day at home w/the pup posse.

Technically Inept

Should refrain from using anything technical for the rest of the week---just tasks--and try to remember I am trainable--not educatable (sp). Had a few technical glitches yesterday that appear to be spilling over into today. Make note to self---keep it simple! The beauty of it all---no cussing, moved on, figured it out on my own but sure wasted a lot of my valuable time.

Now for today---off to Mass, volunteer at the rectory most of day, and then home to work in the yard w/the pup (3 plus me) posse.

Flower, Dogs, and Ma

Took this Clematis pic yesterday evening. Can never capture the true beauty of the color---it is a deep purple.

Can one have too many dogs? All are adjusting well, went through adjustment period with all, expecting it to go well. Fonzie is still wired and all over the place. He will learn the routine from the others----Gee---Do we have a routine? The ones who have been here know the story.

Last 3 Dog Night

Expect this to be our last "3 Dog Night." We shall now be called "4 Dog Night." Could have Fonz this evening or sometime this weekend. Expect it to be an exciting time for all. (Double click to get the full impact of Rowdy's excitement.)

Light rain last night. Still dark but can hear the birds singing. Cannot believe there is no wind this AM---It's early. We have had 51 MPH winds this last week. DO NOT LIKE THE WIND. Plan to go to Mass this AM, volunteer at the rectory for a few hours, run some errands, stain some wood, file some papers in my office, and putz around the house/yard this evening. Exciting--Huh?
