Grass is getting greener (on this side of the fence), longer, and filling in over the bare spots. Flowers and plants are liking the regular watering and Ma is happy to report there are no more hoses to drag around in the heat of the day. Love to sit on the back deck and watch the rotors and sprayers doing their thing. WOW, life is exciting!

Mass this AM and volunteered at the rectory. Wanted to share a quote from Brother Lawrence: "We ought not to be weary of doing little things for the love of God, who regards not the greatness of the work, but the love with which it is performed." Planning on a quiet afternoon, carpenter here late this afternoon to completely finish the painting and end the day w/neighborhood Tupperware Party----yes, I said Tupperware Party.

Putzing

What is putzing?---Today it is---Off to Mass, volunteering at school, then home to trim some tree branches, mow the lawn, water the potted plants, prune some shrubs, pull some weeds, thin out some spent plants, secure some vines, and possibly catch a mole before the sun sets. May throw in some sitting w/"boys" and reading later in the evening.

If you ever want to putz or see putzing in person----come on over. I am a master at putzing. Used to think I was the director of chaos--now have officially nominated myself the putzing queen.

Cooler weather

Rained and cooled down last night. Things are getting green again. Plan to work in the basement today to get ready for the painting. Have the house open and enjoying fresh air. The "boys" are lounging and all is well at Ma's house.

Stuff

Last week was productive and hectic (my own doing for scheduling too many things in one week). Grass is greening as I speak (thank you sprinkler system), all painting in office will be completed by end of week (thank you carpenter/painter), and all filing system will be organized whenever I get darned good and ready (thank you for procrastination and retirement ---because I can procrastinate).

Finished PT and now giving in to go see chiropractor tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully, back/legs will work, feel better, and I can be more flexible.

Cooler weather on the way. Looking forward to spending more time out of doors, possibly walking in AM following Mass. Volunteering 3 days/week at St. Pat's School and a couple days at rectory. Should keep me busy this fall/winter. Also, taking Bridge classes one night/week (Tuesday) for 8 weeks.

Let Me Plan Your Rain

You want rain?---let me help with your outdoor project plans and you will get rain. Seems every project I planned this summer has been delayed or interrupted by rain. Call me, I am the rain maker. I can make it happen.

The sprinkler guys came out to do some rotor/spray adjustments and fill the inspection trenches this AM. Will meet w/the owner sometime today to review system and get more operational details.

All the wallpaper removed from office and removing all wall conduits to make it a true room and not a pseudo office/room. Ceiling/walls should be painted next week. Let it rain---tee, hee, hee, it's indoor work. That should do it for Ma's 2010 projects.

Rain, lots of rain...

Rainy weather----where was the rain before the sprinkler system was installed? Actually got to manually over ride system this AM due to all the rain. They are finishing up tomorrow w/all the spray adjusting and stuff. Nice to have the cooler weather--the "boys" are also liking it---they are running around playing like pups.

It is happening

Sprinkler guys here---going well---real nice people---they moved most of the boulders I put out this AM in order to put the back flow valve in place. Will someone out there please tell me to chill and not try to anticipate or orchestrate what I think will happen or try to help----please. M.

2 steps anyway

Just waiting around. We had rain yesterday and the sprinkling system is due to be installed today. Mass this AM, came home and laid out 30+ boulders/stones to mark off the east pathway by the house so pathway border would not interfere w/sprinklers. Glad I am going to PT tomorrow afternoon. Weather is wonderful----65 degrees this AM---YES! All wallpaper removed from office. Think I got water down into the phone line so now I have static on the phone line. The phone repair guy is supposed to be here between 7:00am and 7:00pm. Must be drying up some as there is less static. Call me the 2 steps forward--one step backwards gal. (Pretty funny too----jacked my back a little and it is getting a little stiff since the AM boulder toting so the steps are a little lop sided--not forward ----should be in good form by this evening.)

Stuff

Salmon are running!!!! Right to my doorstep in a box from Alaska. Received a boxful of Larry's wonderful smoked Salmon w/picante sauce. Already sampled some---YES!!!!! Thank you Larry!

Volunteering each day for the last 2 weeks at St. Patrick's School to help get ready for the school year. Too hot to be outside---was 109 degrees yesterday afternoon.

Sprinkler system scheduled to be installed on Monday.

Signed up for an 8 week beginning bridge class. Starts mid September. Have not played bridge since you kids were little---remember all the fun we had playing bridge/w Jan when she came home on the weekends from K-State?

Church tower bell will be put in place this AM after Mass. Will be blessed by the Bishop on September 5th.

Off to Mass, watch the installation of the bell, volunteer at rectory/school, grocery shop, take Rowdy for annual check up this afternoon, and possibly take off the last of the wallpaper in the office.

Have a special BD (Phia) this weekend, grandchildren off to college (Taylor and Michael) next week...life is good! Stay healthy, be safe, and keep in touch.

3 Reasons for Joy

Looking at this day and thanking God for all of the many blessings in my life. Can especially think of 3 reasons I am so thankful for the last 50 years of my life. Cannot even imagine how empty my life would have been without these blessings. Just have to thank God for being part of His plan...Thank each of you for also being part of my life. It has been a true joy.

Nice weekend.

Sat: Mass and yard work in AM. Music theater in afternoon. Music theater was like a Mel Brooks mystery/musical---really enjoyable. Dinner out w/friend.

Sun: Mass, read, watered flowers, ice cream w/Keith and Becky.

Today: Off to Mass in AM (offered for Pop), start PT for some hip and back exercises, take boys to groomer at noon, might work on wallpaper removal (almost completed), plan a visit to Ascension to sing HB and Pop's favorite rendition of "Have I Told You Lately that I Love You (will miss the "look" and being smacked w/the newspaper while singing), then dinner w/Keith this evening. Will help finish up w/paperwork from school enrollment throughout the week.

Wanted to share an excerpt from one of yesterday's Mass readings: Hebrews 1-2: "Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen." Found that very profound.

Ending a busy week. To Mass this AM, volunteer at rectory, grocery shop, then home to remove the last of the wallpaper from the office. Look forward to Mass tomorrow in AM and Music Theater in PM. Already purchased next years season tickets to Music Theater. Have said it before---great way to spend a hot afternoon summer day (the shows are also wonderful--know I will be nicely surprised.)

Reminder: Mass being offered for Pop on Monday @ St. Patrick Church at 8:00am. It would have been his 73rd birthday. I think of him dearly as "the man, the myth, the legend, and an honorable friend." Know you also have good memories of him.
