Mother Cabrini Colorado Shrine

Today is the feast day of Mother Cabrini, a young frail Italian saint. She is also the first canonized American citizen. There is a story about her climbing the stairs of a tall building in Chicago, going into a large corporate office and requesting funding for the poor and her schools. It worked---they were impressed w/her and donated to her cause.

I think of this story every time I remember the climb up the stairs of her Golden Colorado shrine. We are blessed to have the saints among us!

Catching up on Spring

The squirrels have moved a lot of the Spring bulbs around the flower beds. Thought it was interesting this arrangement was a threesome.
Mass offered this AM for the special intentions of our family.

Spring has been wonderful--except for a couple of hail/wind storms. Expecting rain the next few days. Worked out in the yard/back field most of last week. Everything has gone smoothly with the yard work, other than the ticks (6 attached to be exact) and the wasps (no stings yet---have an epipen now and carrying a fly swatter when out on the back yard.) Still pulling up last years elm tree seedlings, moving some rocks, trimming some broken branches, and some moving pots around. Have been stalking/scoping out the plant nurseries and picked up a few hardy plants. There are going to be some plants sales this weekend---plan to attend--rain or shine.

Still volunteering at the rectory and Church several days a week. Covering some Holy Hours and attending a monthly Senior meeting at St. Jude.

Take care, stay safe/healthy, and keep in touch.

Thought for the Day

American civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

Sharing a thought for today. " Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter," quote from MLK.

Sharing a reading...

Mass this AM. The first readings have been from Hebrews. Hebrews was written in the 90's (that is 90 AD), author unknown, only 13 chapters, considered more of a sermon than an Epistle. Have really enjoyed the readings especially Chapter 13, verse 2: "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it."

Woke up to a 2+" dusting of snow. (2014 snow pic) Drive to Church was a "trip"---lots of accidents along the way. Needless to say I will gladly be home bound for the remainder of the day. Unsure if my car is red or gray---has been some time since the last car wash.

Stay healthy, safe, and keep in touch.
